What You Absolutely MUST Know about Rent to Own BEFORE You Get Started!
These are some of the questions you should be asking the company or independent real estate investor BEFORE you hand over any money or make ANY type of formal commitment:
- How long have you or your company been operating this type of business?
- How many Rent to Own transactions have you or your company successfully completed?
- Do you have Testimonials from previous clients?
- How long is the term of the lease or contract?
- Can the Lease be extended if I require some additional time to qualify for a mortgage?
- Do you offer Lease or Rent Credits as a way for me to increase my down payment?
- Is it mandatory for me to enrol in a "Credit Counselling" (education) program? If so, who will provide me with the education?
- Is the purchase price of the home guaranteed or set the day I sign the contract?
- What happens if I can't qualify for a mortgage at the end of the lease term?
These are just some of the many questions that you can ask. But remember this…don't be shy, ask as MANY questions as possible, because there is NEVER such a thing as a STUPID question. The ONLY stupid question is…the one you DON'T ask!
